About Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the UK, where each year 41,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. One in 10 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives and each year 300 men in the UK are affected by breast cancer.

Important Facts

  • If there is a problem it is best treated early.
  • You are never too young to get breast cancer. Even if you are in your 20s or 30s, check your breasts.
  • Men can also be affected by breast cancer.
  • Remember that 9 out of 10 changes are not cancer related.

Breast Screening is offered to women aged 50-64 years so take up your appointment. Be breast aware and do what you can to protect yourself. Talk to friends and family and make sure they are breast aware too.
