Where the money is going

The money you raise is going to the Breast Cancer Institute at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh [more], and the Beatson and Western Infirmary Hospital in Glasgow [more].

These are the three key breast cancer treatment and research centres for Central, Western, Southern and Eastern Scotland . Regional facilities feed into these specialist facilities.

Although they are separate organisations, there is much interaction between the three groups, and you will notice that the money donated to the Western Infirmary and Beatson will be spent on a joint project, which will ultimately help in the broader fight against breast cancer here in Scotland and beyond.

We are encouraging the groups to speak and work together because we believe that a cohesive force is required to tackle this dreadful disease effectively. We have been encouraged by the level of interaction already in existence and hope to play a role in developing these interactions over forthcoming years.

What the three organisations are concerned with is planning today for tomorrow's future. The incidence of breast cancer is rapidly increasing and it is only by working together and anticipating the problems to come that we will win the battle over breast cancer.
